With ref. to my tel. of the same date, I have the honour to inform you that I have selected Capt. J.H. Hayling MC, RAVC, for appointment as an Acting Solicitor in Hong Kong.
From 1900 to Nov, 1905, I was articled to Messrs Harding & Damett, Solicitors, Leicester. I passed the Solicitors Final Examination in Nov, 1905, and was admitted a Solicitor in Jan, 1906. Between Jan 1906 and Aug 1914, I practised as a Solicitor on my own behalf. On the outbreak of war in Aug 1914, I was mobilised as a Lt in the RASC, promoted Capt in June 1916, and was awarded the Military Cross in Dec 1918.
